If you are a business owner or property manager, you’re probably wondering how you can effectively create a safe environment for employees and customers. An extremely effective method of disinfection that has become increasingly popular is electrostatic disinfection.
Since our last blog post, Frequently Asked Questions About Electrostatic Disinfection, we’ve received a few more questions. Here are the answers.
What is electrostatic disinfection?
Electrostatic disinfection is a method of disinfection utilizing an electrostatic spraying device. The device charges the disinfectant, allowing it to evenly wrap around and cling to sprayed surfaces.
When should I have this service performed?
Electrostatic disinfection can be performed as a preventative measure to maintain the health and safety of a facility. It can also be performed in response to a positive COVID-19 case, our outbreak of any kind. While we are all concerned with COVID-19 at the moment, disinfection services are beneficial year round to prevent the spread of a variety of different pathogens, including the common cold and the flu.
How quickly can I get this service scheduled?
This service can be scheduled and performed within 24 hours, especially in response to a positive COVID-19 case or outbreak in your building. If you’d like the service performed regularly, drafting a proposal and creating a schedule may take up to five business days.
Do I need to close my business for electrostatic disinfection services?
You do not need to close your business. We can perform the service outside of your business hours for your convenience. We do ask that the building be unoccupied so we can thoroughly spray all areas with little interference.
How long do electrostatic disinfection services take?
This will depend on the size of the facility and the type of areas that are being sprayed. The service is fairly quick and you can expect it to take anywhere from 1-3 hours.
How long before I can re-enter the facility?
Your building can be re-entered immediately after the service has been performed; however, we do recommend that you wait for the disinfectants to dwell for the recommended 10 minutes and dry before entering. Depending on air flow, surfaces may take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to dry.
Is there a lasting effect?
There is no lasting effect for electrostatic disinfection. The process will kill all targeted pathogens from a surface, but if the pathogen is reintroduced, you will need to disinfect again.
Is a residue left behind?
Yes, there is a light residue left behind. If you have janitorial services and surfaces are being wiped down regularly, you do not need to worry about build up.
Is there anything that should not be sprayed?
Paper will curl if sprayed. Some fabrics may be effected by the disinfectants. We recommend conducting spot tests before proceeding.
Is it safe around my staff? What about animals or plants?
Yes, the disinfectants we use are safe for people, plants and animals and can be used on food contact surfaces.
